Coach Contreras lives in Glendale, AZ and works as a teacher at Maryvale High School. Coach Contreras holds a B.S. in Information Technology, M.S. in Sports and Health Sciences, a Graduate Certificate in Sports Management, a Level 3 Coaching Certification in basketball from the United States Sports Academy, and is currently persuing his PhD in General Psychology with an Emphasis in Performance Psychology. Coach Contreras has 11 years of coaching experience in multiple sports to include basketball, softball, and soccer along with experience as a team trainer and team strength & conditioning coach.

In my spare time I enjoy riding my motorcycle, hunting, fishing, and spending time with my wife, daughter, and two sons. I believe that mental preparation, dicipline, determination, and hard work are the foundation for becoming an elite athletes.

Coach Contreras is also the founder of the Arizona Nighthawks Athletic Club, Inc.,.a nonprofit organization 501c3 with a focus on providing a safe and educational environment for athletes of low socioeconomic areas participating in athletic events. Upon begining a teaching and coachintg career in 2008, it was quickly determined that creating an impact in students and athletes is what he was meant to do. Adding to his experience, Coach Contreras served 12 years in the Arizona Army National Guard with a deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
